The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both women and men may belong.  Worldwide, there are over 500,000 members under the General Grand Chapter.

While this is an Order composed of people of deep spiritual convictions, it is open to all faiths, except no faith.  The personal welfare of our members is vital to all of those in the Eastern Star, and it is considered a privilege to help another member whenever we can. 

Basic Requirements for Joining

 The requirements to join the Order of the Eastern Star are that:

  • You must be over the age of 18

  • You must be of good moral character

  • You must believe in the existence of a Supreme Being (No Denomination in particular)

  • If male, you must be:

  • an affiliated Master Mason in good standing, or

    1. the brother of an affiliated Master Mason in good standing

  • If female, you must be:

  • the wife

    1. the daughter

    2. a legally adopted daughter

    3. the mother

    4. the widow

    5. the sister

    6. a half-sister

    7. the granddaughter

    8. the stepmother

    9. the stepdaughter

    10. the step-sister

    11. the daughter-in-law

    12. the grandmother

    13. the great-granddaughter

    14. the niece

    15. the great-niece

    16. the mother-in-law

    17. the sister-in-law

    18. or the aunt

Of an affiliated Master Mason, or if deceased, one who was in good standing at the time of their death

  • Also, those who have been members active for 3 years or majority of the International Order of the Rainbow Girls or of the International Orders of Job's Daughters, each of whom have attained the age of 18 are eligible

To start the process, you must first submit a petition for membership to Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #392 for consideration. These petitions can be obtained by asking a known member of the Chapter to get you one, by visiting the Chapter during one of our events or Open Houses, by contacting the chapter directly at gettysburgeasternstar392@gmail.com, or download a petition.

Petitions are carefully read, eligibility investigated, and selection to membership must be approved by a vote of the Chapter.  The Order strives to select persons of good mental, moral, and spiritual quality who will work together in harmony to perform its objectives.  If you think you fit the requirements, and you are looking to belong to a quality organization that is looking to make a difference in the community and the lives of those they interact with, we highly encourage you to join us!
